Sarah Fowler, RDH, Myofunctional Therapist
Hello!
I'm Sarah Fowler, an RDH, Myofunctional Therapist, and owner of Just Breathe, LLC, and I'm so happy you're here! I graduated from Lane Community College in 2010 with an Associate of Applied Science degree in Dental Hygiene. However, this was not the beginning of my dental journey towards becoming a myofunctional therapist.
I started in the dental field in 2003 as a dental assistant. From the very beginning, I had a particular interest in airway dentistry and finding the "why" behind some of the oral and systemic issues I would see every day. This passion for airway health was placed on the fast track when I had children, and they had challenges with breastfeeding, sleep disturbances, emotional dysregulation, and a variety of other obstacles to overcome. It took numerous appointments with specialists and lots of independent research to learn more about lip and tongue ties and how they can affect infants, children, and even adults. From there, my interest turned to passion and became an obsession, ultimately leading me to Just Breathe, LLC!
The field of myofunctional therapy and oral dysfunctions answered so many of my questions personally and professionally. Understanding structure and function and how these correlates to overall health and wellness is quite remarkable. I love that myofunctional therapy is a natural approach to neuromuscular re-education of the tongue, lips, cheeks, and throat. I find it amazing that craniofacial development, airway, breathing, and tongue position are linked to more significant issues like quality sleep and breathing, behavioral issues, proper swallowing, the need for orthodontic treatment, and overall health and wellness.
As a myofunctional therapist, I hope to serve you as an essential link in your interdisciplinary team of professionals committed to helping you improve your overall health! I am very passionate about what I do and love to educate by creating awareness, identifying and correcting oral function, and, most of all, helping you live a happier, healthier life. I look forward to meeting you soon; breathe well and be well! Learn more.
-Sarah
